Government sources are listed first, asset manager listings are in the middle section, properties owned by smaller regional banks are in the lower section which also continues on the following page. Asset managers will handle the rehab and marketing of foreclosure homes for both large lenders and smaller lenders. The regional lenders will often have more flexibility in their property offerings, some will provide financing.
Government Listings
HUD HOMESTORE
Easy to use search with lots of foreclosure houses in urban areas. Housing and Urban Development carries the listings for homes that had FHA financing before going through foreclosure.
FANNIE MAE (HOMEPATH)
Fannie Mae is now a government entity with their loans guaranteed by the U.S. government, Fannie Mae either owns or guarantees a large percentage of
real estate home loans. Searchable by city, state and ZIP code.
FREDDIE MAC (HOMESTEPS)
Searchable database by features including city, state, Zip code, county, bedrooms and bathrooms. Similar to Fannie Mae, a purchaser of loans on the secondary market.
VA (VETERAN'S ADMINISTRATION)
Easy and fast Veterans Administration foreclosed homes for sale search.
FEDERAL DEPOSIT INSURANCE CORPORATION (GOVERNMENT)
National list of foreclosed houses, but not many properties in each area.
UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF AGRICULTURE
You can search by single family residence, farms or multi-family properties for sale.
